Hi Everyone, my name is Robert Vernick and welcome to Episode 8 of Wine Terroir. In this episode we will be talking about one of the most popular sparkling wines in the world Prosecco which hails from North East Italy.

Is Prosecco a grape or a wine? In 2009 the grape varietal was renamed to Glera. While Glera is not the only grape permitted, it is clearly the dominate grape. Glera must make up 85% of the blend and the remaining can be a combination of indigenous or local grapes varieties.
